Creative Writing

Today, the forms of Writing we see are altered and worked upon over a certain time. For example, Creative Writing is a form of Writing twritingfers widely from research paper writing or technical Writing. This Writing tests the imagination and creative ability of an individual. For example, a newspaper report is a form of Writing. Writing that does not come into the category of a creative one. Similarly, even in a research paper, the writer’s sole purpose is to focus on his topic, highlight points in its favour, and critically analyze it. Still, he cannot express his views in the paper.

Creative Writing aims to express the writer’s emotions, point of view, and feelings and entertain the readers for the same. They work upon different aspects of human life and experiences and appeal to the readers similarly. Creative Writing, be it contemporary or traditional, includes certain techniques used by the writers in their work.

Students must remember these points for help in homework:

  • Efficient plot development to connect the dots

Traditional forms of creative Writing continue from ancient times today. Poetry found its place in this world with the Writing of Poetics by Aristotle. Through him, poetry gained prominence, and similarly, there are other traditional forms of writing as well:

1-Poetry:

As mentioned above, poetry is a traditional form of Writing and i]t developed using several forms and structures in each era of English Literature. In the Middle Ages, the English used was different, as seen in Chaucer’s Pilgrim’s Progress. The Elizabethan era saw the rise of Spenserian and Shakespearian styles of poetry, adhering to the style of Edmund Spenser and William Shakespeare, respectively. While Edmund Spenser rose to prominence with his allegory work, The Faerie Queene and William Shakespeare’s dramas brought him fame, along with his sonnets mostly on love and marriage.

Sheer sarcasm on society was intended by poets of the Augustan era. Alexander Pope, with his Rape of the Lock, and Jonathan Swift,t with his allegorical Tale of Tubs, highlighted the same. Wordsworth, Coleridge, Keats, Shelley and Byron’s romantic poetry focused on nature and its beauty. Victorian poetry focused on the stark contrast between religion and science. And the modern ones focused on the disillusionment caused by the World Wars.

2-Drama:

Shakespeare gave rise and prominence to dramas. Shakespeare was an Elizabethan-era dramatist who wrote histories, comedies, tragedies, tragicomedies, and the like. In the Augustan era, the motive of those immediately succeeding Shakespeare was to highlight the Folies of men and women in the society and to highlight it in the most vivid sense. After the Augustan era, Drama was taken over by the novels and only saw a rise again in the modern era, when writers like Samuel Beckett and Henrik Ibsen took to writing them.

3-Novels and Novellas:

This is yet another traditional form of creative Writing twritingeloped fast with the advent of the Georgian era. Jane Austen was a prominent novelist in this era. Austen’s vivid portrayal of society and the then concept of love and marriage in almost all of her novels again gives the reader an insight into that era. Her most popular novel is Pride and Prejudice- a clear glimpse into the position of women in that era and the stereotypical mould set for them, which the protagonist Elizabeth Bennet refused to fit in.

4-Memoirs and Personal Essays:

These are always written in the first person and offer a glimpse into the writer’s personal life. They are the writer’s recollection and elaboration of certain important events of his life and the most expressive forms of Writing. They rose to prominence from the Restoration age.

5-Songs and Speeches:

Though the former can be closely related to writing poetry, it developed as a different genre. Similarly, speech writing too developed along the same lines.

The contemporary era has altered the field of language. Likewise, with the advancement of technology, the works’ themes and plots have also changed.

The contemporary style of Writing has deviated from the more artistic way of presentation to the more personal one focusing more on the content and less on the form and style of Writing.

1-Blogs:

Blog Writing is writing as a freelancer upon whatever you want to; therefore, it does not have any set format. The work accepts all sorts of reviews. Therefore, this work also establishes a connection between the reader and the writer because it seems that the reader’s own topics and points of view are being discussed. Blogs can be written on diets, mental issues, health issues, recipes can be included, and any such common things can be written.

2-Poetry:

Although a traditional style, this creative writing style also established its roots in the modern era. The contemporary style of poetry does not leave any topic untouched as against traditional ones. Contemporary poetry also includes Ghazals and Shayaris. The difference is that contemporary poetry does not adhere to any set rule or structure like its traditional counterparts.

3-Storytelling and Writing:

The art of storytelling got refined in the modern era, so much so that today students are taught to write them.

4-Travelogues:

A person writes a travelogue of the place he or she has visited so that others can decide for themselves. Here one gives a detailed account of how to reach the place and everything else.

5-Reviews:

This Writing includes the analytical skills of a person who then gives his views on a piece of art. After that, we also have short stories and biographies in the category. And all this can assist us with effective help in homework.
